Candidates facing critical problem of “What to prepare” and “How to prepare” to give their best in their exams. But, nothing about to worry just get the prescribed exam pattern & syllabi from here for your better preparation. Now, here we are providing the latest prescribed Syllabus Pattern of NTPC UG Exam conducting by Indian Railways RRBs.
Revised Selection Process Note- Final selection of candidates will be based on merit position obtained in the 2nd stage CBT and/or result of Aptitude Test/Typing Skill Test wherever applicable. Normalization of marks will be done as per extant rules in 1st and 2nd stage CBT.

Scheme of Exam/Selection Process

(I) For the posts of Cat. No. 1, 2, 3 & 4 (CA,TA, ECRC & Goods Guard) CBT Stage 1 & CBT Stage 2 shall be conducted.
(II) For the posts of Cat No: 5, 6 & 9 (Sr. Clerk Gum Typist, JAA, Sr. Time Keeper) CBT Stage 1 & CBT Stage 2 followed by Typing Skill Test of qualifying nature (marks obtained in typing skill test shall not be added for making merit) shall be conducted.
(III) For the posts of Cat. No. 7 & 8 (ASM, Traffic Assistant) CBT Stage 1 & CBT Stage 2 followed by Aptitude Test shall be conducted for which candidates equal to eight times the number of vacancies shall be called for.

STAGE-2 Computer Based Test (CBT-2)

Exam Pattern :- Railway Exam Pattern for these posts is as follows :
► The written test will be multiple choice objective questions.
► There will be 120 questions in a composite paper in 90 Minutes Time Duration. Expected Distribution of Marks/ Question will be as follows :

Exam Syllabus :- Railway RRB syllabus will be :
Syllabus will be same as CBT Stage 1 exam. However, difficulty level of questions may be raised.

General Awareness : Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research. Questions from General Science may ask in Ample amount.
It also include questions related to General Science, what we see and do everyday, knowledge about computer and technologies, web/internet, digitalization etc.
Arithmetic : The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be computation of whole numbers, decimals ,fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. Ratio & Proportion,Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities of School.
Algebra & Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centers, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons , Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree and Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.
General Intelligence & Reasoning : It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series.
Coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization.
Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, Punched hole/pattern –folding & unfolding, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching, Date & city matching, Classification of center codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Other sub-topics, if any.

STAGE-3 Typing Test

  • A Typing Test shall be conducted for which the number of candidates equals to eight times the number of vacancies shall be called for.
  • The candidates should be able to type 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only with disabling editing tools and spell check facility.
  • For guidelines of those who appear for skill test in Hindi, KrutiDev and Mangal font shall be made available for skill test on Personal Computer.

STAGE-5 Document Verification

The merit will be drawn only for the candidates qualifying in the aptitude test, with 70% weight being given to the marks obtained in the CBT and 30% weight being given to the marks obtained in aptitude test. Short listed candidates will be called for verification of original documents.
