About University:- The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal is India’s premier institute for dairy research. The institute was accorded the status of Deemed University in the year 1989. Although, The National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal was originally started as Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 1923 at Bangalore. Although, It was expanded and rename as Imperial Dairy Institute in 1936. Therefore, It was known as National Dairy Research Institute after independence in 1947. Subsequently, in 1955, NDRI headquarters was shifted to Karnal. The Institute produce more than 2,000 Dairy Diploma holders, 1,174 dairy graduates, 1,903 post-graduates at Masters level and 873 at Doctorate level in different disciplines of Dairying. So, Deemed University status was conferred on the Institute in 1989, for further strengthening its academic programmes. Although, NDRI Deemed University provides high quality education in the field of dairying, which has no parallel in Asia.
