RBI Officer Syllabus 2016

Reserve Bank Of India is fully responsible for conducting the exam for Officers Grade- B post. RBI Conducts this exam in two Phases. Exam Pattern & Exam Syllabus Phase-I & II of RBI Officer Grade-B  exam is discussed here:-

Exam Pattern:-

Phase-I:- It is an Online Objective Type Exam of 200 marks.

The Paper consists tests of (i) General Awareness (ii) English Language (iii) Quantitative Aptitude and (iv) Reasoning, with composite time of 120 minutes.

Phase-II:- Candidates who are qualified in Phase-I exam will be Appeared in Phase-II exam. In Phase-II examination there are three papers comprising of 300 Marks.

(i) Paper I – Economic and Social Issues(100 marks) (ii) Paper II – English (Writing Skills)(100 marks) and (iii) Paper III – Finance and Management(100 marks). Each of these papers is of 1 hour 30 Minute Time duration.

Phase-I (except the test of English) and Papers I & III of Phase-II will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.

Exam Syllabus:-

Phase-I:-

English: It will be test of English comprehension. questions will be asked from antonyms, synonyms, grammar, one word substitution, idioms & phrases etc.

General Knowledge: Question will be asked from Indian History, Indian Polity, Current Events, Geography, Economy etc. Focus will be on Current national & International events, banking, sports etc.

Quantitative Aptitude:- Algebra Basic algebra, Linear equation, quadratic equation, factors & simplification, polynomials, Arithmetic Simple & compound interest, installments, taxation, shares & dividends, Ratio & proportion, percentage, time, distance & work, profit & loss, Bar Graph, Pie Chart, Pipes & Cisterns, Mensuration etc.

Reasoning:- Questions will be asked from analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning.

Phase-II:-

(i) Paper I – English: Essay, Précis writing, Comprehension and Business/Office Correspondence.

(ii) Paper II – Economic and Social Issues: Growth and Development – Measurement of growth: National Income and per capita income – Poverty Alleviation and Employment Generation in India – Sustainable Development and Environmental issues. Economic Reforms in India – Industrial and Labour Policy – Monetary and Fiscal Policy – Privatisation – Role of Economic Planning. Globalization – Opening up of the Indian Economy – Balance of Payments, Export-Import Policy – International Economic Institutions – IMF and World Bank – WTO – Regional Economic Co-operation. Social Structure in India – Multiculturalism – Demographic Trends – Urbanisation and Migration – Gender Issues – Social Justice : Positive Discrimination in favour of the under privileged – Social Movements – Indian Political System – Human Development – Social Sectors in India, Health and Education.

(iii) Paper III – Finance and Management:

Finance: The Union Budget – Direct and Indirect taxes; Non-tax sources of revenue; Outlays; New Measures; Financial Sector Reforms; Capital Market, Money Market and Foreign Exchange Market; Stock Exchanges and their Regulation; Capital Market Intermediaries and their Regulation; Role of SEBI; Functions of the Money Market; Growth and Operation of the Money Market; The Foreign Exchange Market; From FERA to FEMA; Exchange Rate Management; Exchange Risk Management; Role of Banks and Financial Institutions in Economic Development; Regulation of Banks and Financial Institutions; Disinvestment in Public Sector Units.

Management: Management: its nature and scope; The Management Processes; Planning, Organisation, Staffing, Directing and Controlling; The Role of a Manager in an Organisation.
